Denominations and Special Editions
GlobalChange comes in ones, fives, tens, twenties, and so on, like U.S. dollars. If you mint 10 GC, you can get one ten, two fives, ten ones - whatever you choose. You can also make change, if you later decide you want smaller denominations.
Or, depending on luck, you might get a Special Edition piece of digital art attached to your bill, essentially a nested NFT.
Special Edition art is crowdsourced from artists, and has varying levels of scarcity. Art can be jpegs, gifs, moving gifs, audio files - any file or any NFT, really. The Whitepaper explains how non-image art can be represented on bills.
Artists who provide art can specify particular nonprofits, so the only way to get a certain artist's art on your bills might be to give money to the nonprofit the artist is supporting.
Below, you can see a a Special Edition GlobalChange bill that includes a piece of art that is allowed to go onto bills after someone's donation to a set of nonprofits includes Crypto for the Homeless, an organization that turns cryptocurrency donations into food for people who are currently homeless. You can confirm that this nonprofit indeed received the appropriate gift by searching for the bill's serial number on the blockchain, as described in the Whitepaper. (The reason why gifts go to a group of 5 nonprofits is also explained in the Whitepaper).
Payments: You can bundle together bills and also coins to make payments, quickly and globally.
If you want, you can make change, breaking a larger denomination into smaller bills or coins.
Transactions take seconds, and each transaction is virtually free, costing a fraction of a cent on the Stellar Lumens blockchain. Transaction costs are less than rounding error, even for small micropayments.
So you can pay your friend back for a cup of coffee by sending them a bundle of NFTs with face values.
GlobalChange can work across multiple blockchains, or support its own. Stellar Lumens is a great place to start. Stellar includes all functionality necessary to support GlobalChange digital money, and has very low transaction fees - by design, transactions are almost free.
Stellar is supported by a nonprofit organization itself, Stellar Development Foundation:"The future of blockchain adoption must be inclusive and affordable across global markets. Stellar promotes financial access anywhere there is unmet need or untapped potential."
Print your GC bills, including a password.
Put the hash of the password on the blockchain.
Give the printed bills to whomever you like.
They enter the serial number and password on the blockchain,
and now they own the bill on the blockchain!
(New owners should reset the password: whoever knows the password, owns the GC.
Ghost Rider Mode
Get a dollar bill (or any other fiat cash with a serial number). Put its serial number on the blockchain, along with the serial number of a GC bill you own. Now, anyone who enters the fiat bill's serial number can see the GC that is Ghost Riding on it!
Like with the (simulated) AR app in the picture, the world's currency can become GC, usable worldwide with anyone who accepts GC.
Password is optional. With a password, whoever knows the password owns the GC. Without a password, whoever owns the dollar bill owns the GC.
See the Whitepaper for more detail.
Be aware: someone might try to counterfeit your fiat bill. Which is difficult and illegal, but not impossible. There are pros and cons to Ghost Rider mode ... but it's up to you!
